Not bad. Hope it's not the best track on the album, though.

I miss the days when this band was actually agressive and the drumming was completely insane. Now they just sound like radio rock.

Its not that far from the shortest/most-straightfoward songs off Crack The Skye. Sounds like these-days-Mastodon to me.

Looking foward to the whole album. Even if yes, The Hunter was a bit of a letdown compare to the rest of their catalog.

To be fair, they couldn't play that way forever. Growth has been a great thing for this band. This does sound like it could've been on "Crack The Skye" for sure though.

I can’t not like this band. I keep finding things in whatever they do that prevent it from being what I expect it to be. Crack the Skye, hit me on a weird 70’s Rush note, and I loved it. It’s not something that I ever would have expected, but the album just hit the right spot. The last album seemed like it was going to be too polished, and maybe it was. Sill, I found myself liking it in a 70’s rocking kind of way, which probably doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. Bottom like, The Curl of the Burl, seemed stupid at first, but ended up hooking me in a Smoke of the Water type way.

Some friends are trying to get me to go and see these guys and Gojira in Philly next month. It’s not normally the type of thing that I travel for, but I am thinking about doing it just because I haven’t seen Mastodon since the Leviathan tour.

I've tried, in a couple of eras for them. Never clicked.

Not surprising coming from these guys. Seems like a logical progression from their other material. Whether it's progressing (regressing?) is a good or bad thing is subjective. I didn't hate the tune but it didn't blow me away. Truth be told, the last album of theirs that did that was Blood Mountain. I'll still buy it though, no doubt.

I don't understand this comment. Why can a band not continue to be heavy and aggressive?

I guess I don't really understand the usage of the word growth there either.
