I always hoped that if the Christian music community took a hit or was to be blamed for something bad, it would be a fundie Christian bombing an abortion clinic, saying he did it for Michael W. Smith or Steven Curtis Chapman. But instead, it's this. Involving the metal scene, and no doubt the anti-metal fundies and watchdog groups will have another reason to paint the entire metal scene with the same brush.

I don't think anyone cares about metal that much anymore, to be honest. Nowadays if you're a teen you're more likely to shock your parents by playing Islamic prayer music than you are with heavy metal.

The story is like 1 paragraph, and the band sucks. Sounds like a fucked up situation, would read more on it. For now though, the only thing that most of us know that is even remotely worthy of more discussion than a string of emoticons is this asshole’s religion. I find it kind of interesting that given the wide range of ideologies and cast of dubious characters that can be found in the metal scene, that this was done by somebody who paints himself as being a “good” guy. If you have a more interesting angle to discuss on this story, feel free to bring it up.

So, I guess that we should have all just used the "surprised" emoticon until we had more information to discuss. Nobody knows anything, his being from a Christian friendly band is pretty much the only thing worth mentioning other than the fact that it happend, and it's a weird story.

I enjoyed Frail Words Collapse and Shadows Are Security for what they were - solid melodic metalcore. This is a pretty out there situation and I'm interested to see some details emerge.

I don't see a problem with that at all. Why would you want metal to be accepted at all? It's outsider music for the most part. Take some pride in that. Have you seen mainstream society? If metal has their disdain, we're doing something right. Approval is over-rated.
